Mandy Redvers-Rowe

“I love The Everyman Theatre, with its history of developing ground- breaking political theatre.

Very much part of the Liverpool arts scene, playwrights such as Willy Russell and Alan Bleasdale have both premiered plays here.

Following in their footsteps, I want my writing to have an impact. As a blind writer I hope that by placing characters with a different lived experience at the centre of my dramas, I can offer a new and alternative perspective.

I have a way to go yet, but The Everyman has supported all of my projects. My solo show ‘Measuring Up’, 2019, was performed at EV1, my verbatim play ‘Shielded’, 2020, was performed online.

The Everyman is linked to the Liverpool Playhouse. They share one administrative and artistic team and in 2020, I was commissioned to write a ’Love Liverpool’ monologue as part of ‘The A to Z Of Hope’ series. The following year, in 2021, it formed part of a new production at The Liverpool Playhouse.

Most recently, The Everyman & Playhouse supported my DYCP Arts Council application, enabling me to research musical theatre. They provided a rehearsal room, to work with musicians and experiment with song writing.

As an adopted scouser, I am proud to be photographed here — in my artistic home.”
